I’ve heard stories suggesting Spurs new boy Lewis Holtby could have represented England and international level – is this true?

Jack Beresford:

Tottenham’s new arrival Lewis Holtby could have played for England at International level but opted to play for Germany instead.

His English roots stem from his father, Chris Holtby, who as a British soldier was stationed in RAF Rheindahlen in Monchengladbach when he met Lewis’s mother.
Both men are avid Everton fans, but with Holtby born in Erkelenz in West Germany, the youngster opted to rise through the ranks of the German national set up and has three full international caps to his name already.
