Why did the entire board of Ajax quit?

Jack Beresford:
The entire board of Ajax, including Johan Cruyff quit the board of Ajax following a long-running struggle for control of the club’s management and strategy
This latest twist comes after a Dutch court ruling rejected the appointment of Louis Van Gaal as CEO of Ajax.
Johan Cruyff had previously opposed Van Gaal’s appointment, arguing that the recruitment was made by the other four board members without his knowledge or consent.
As a result of this dispute, all five will now leave with the club noting they will depart “in the shortest possible term, once suitable replacements have been found that can count on broad support.”
No date has been set for this, while a shareholders meeting which was also set for later the same week has been cancelled.
Despite the move, Cruyff could still yet return following the ruling with Hennie Henrichs’ the head of the Ajax Vereniging, the body which will create the new board, proving to be an avid fan of the Dutch legend.
Meanwhile, executive Martin Sturkenboom and technical trainer Danny Blind are also set to depart the club, with the pair’s appointments linked to the arrival of Van Gaal.
