Description:

I heard that Lionel Messi had broken yet another record in a Champions League second-leg semi-final match against AC Milan. What was this other record he broke?

Jack Beresford:

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi broke the record for the most goals scored in a single Champions League campaign, following a match-winning double against AC Milan at the Nou Camp.

Scoring twice from the penalty spot, Messi’s goals helped Barcelona progress to the semi-finals of this season’s Champions league, but more importantly saw him set a new record with 14 goals in the tournament so far.

This beat the previous best of 12 goals in a single Champions League season, which was set by Dutchman Ruud Van Nistelrooy  with Manchester United in 2003 and equalled by the young Argentine last season.

Messi could go even further too, with a least  two more games left to extend the record further.
